Capri & Amalfi Coast
From the marina of Pozzuoli near Naples/Italy to the islands of Procida, Ischia and Capri, and along the Amalfi Coast to Positano and Amalfi. We will return to Pozzuoli to debark.
Pozzuoli
Our adventure commences at the Marina of Pozzuoli, a charming city in the heart of the Flegrean Fields just west of Naples. Despite its ancient Roman ruins, delectable cuisine, delightful weather, and the imposing presence of a nearby volcano, Pozzuoli is not your typical tourist spot. Pozzuoli remains refreshingly unspoiled by the crowds.
Procida
Procida, is a charming island nestled between Naples and the larger Ischia Island in the Bay of Naples, southeastern Italy. Despite being the smallest inhabited island in the bay, Procida boasts unparalleled beauty. Unlike its more renowned counterparts, Capri and Ischia, Procida remains a hidden gem.
One must-see spot is Marina di Corricella, a picturesque haven that captures the essence of Procida. The panoramic view from the road leading to the castle unveils a romantic scene: a sparkling bay dotted with fishing boats, 17th-century fishermen's houses painted in delightful pastel hues, and the lemon sherbet-colored Santa Maria delle Grazie Incoronata church.
Ischia
The charm of Ischia lies in its diverse towns, each offering a unique experience. Ischia Porto is vibrant, contrasting with the old-world ambiance of Ischia Ponte. Casamicciola Terme boasts thermal springs, and Barano di Ischia is renowned for Maronti beach. Charming spots like Lacco Ameno and Forio are delightful to explore. Its beaches, like Spiaggia dei Maronti and Citara beach, offer sandy retreats. Scenes from 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' were filmed here. Forio boasts elegant villas and the enchanting Giardini La Mortella. In Sant’Angelo, the scenic Cava Grado beach invites relaxation. Porto comes alive at night, offering a vibrant scene with restaurants, boutiques, and lively clubs.
Capri
This idyllic island boasts breathtaking natural beauty, delectable cuisine, and a shopping scene ranging from high-end fashion to exquisite limoncello and artisanal leather sandals. Capri's enchanting coastline, adorned with dramatic cliffs and secluded coves, has long been a magnet for celebrities, with their yachts anchoring in Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, enhancing the island's allure. Since the glamorous days of La Dolce Vita in the late 1950s, Capri has been a favorite destination for stars like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Sophia Loren.
The mesmerizing Blue Grotto has fascinated visitors since the time of the Roman emperor Tiberius, who loved it so much that he adorned it with commissioned statues. The grotto's extraordinary optical effect is created by sunlight bouncing off the cave walls, producing electric-blue water that seems to glow. Another iconic sight, the Faraglioni, comprises three massive limestone stacks visible from the Amalfi Coast's Positano on a clear day. The scenic overlook at the end of via Tragara and the flower-filled Gardens of Augustus offer unparalleled views that we will sail through.
Capri embraces the late-night vibe, where dining after 10 pm is the norm, and nightclubs don't open until after midnight. Experience the magic of this enchanting island, where every moment is steeped in timeless allure and beauty.
Positano
Positano is a picturesque coastal town on the Amalfi Coast, showcases a cascade of vibrant houses tumbling down lush green cliffs toward the sea, creating a postcard-perfect scene. Its charm lies in its enchanting village atmosphere, with winding roads offering breathtaking views of the sparkling waters below jagged cliffs. Popularized by celebrities in the 1960s, it remains a deluxe destination without the overwhelming tourist crowds.
Positano is a haven for food enthusiasts, celebrating the love of food in a unique way. The town is infused with the scent of Amalfi lemons, and its cuisine, particularly seafood, offers mouth-watering flavor combinations that redefine traditional Italian fare. Every corner of Positano, whether its lemon-yellow village houses or its fabulous beaches, is a perfect subject for a photograph, making it a destination that truly captivates the senses.
Amalfi
Amalfi is renowned for its breathtaking views and a picturesque drive along the coastline. Despite being the namesake of the area, Amalfi is more than just a gateway to exploring the coast; it stands as a historical gem deserving of its own visit.
Amalfi was one of Italy's four Maritime Republics during the 10th and 11th centuries, cities with powerful fleets controlling Mediterranean trade routes alongside Venice, Pisa, and Genova. This prosperity bestowed upon the town remarkable architecture and landmarks, many of which endure to this day. Thanks to its stunning landscapes and rich history, Amalfi ranks among Italy's most exquisite small towns and is a must-see destination.
